Estimation Accuracy of IP QoS Measurements based on Active Traffic Probing⋅

چکیده

ISPs selling IP data transmission with negotiated QoS need to prove to their customers the compliance of actual transmission quality with the negotiated QoS from their contracts. For this it is necessary to monitor the quality of end-to-end connections. Whereas passive monitoring of all traffic is prohibitively expensive, active test traffic can be sent regularly between routers and/or end-systems to monitor the transmission quality. In this work we show how quality constraints for the background traffic can be derived from results of low-volume active the test probing which hold true with very high confidence.
